IRVINE, Calif. - Feb. 8, 2002 - Best Software, Inc. was honored
with a prestigious Developer of the Year award by the Software Council
of Southern California, at the organization's 2002 Software Industry
Awards event last night at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los
Angeles.
The trophy was accepted on Best's behalf by George Riviere, a company
founder and the inventor of MAS 90, the most widely used mid-range
accounting software product in North America; and David Raber, general
manager of enterprise systems.
Now in its eighth year, the Software Industry Awards program recognizes
companies and individuals that have made outstanding contributions
to the software industry in Southern California. The awards are
generally considered a measurement of the continuing growth and
influence of the software industry in the region, which comprises
more than 8,000 companies and tens of thousands of employees powering
their successes.
The annual Developer of the Year recognition is reserved for the
software company or individual developer whose products have sold
the most units and show the highest degree of innovation and ease
of use. To qualify, products must have been introduced no earlier
than Jan. 1, 1999.
Best's entry for the award included the introduction of MAS 200
(the client-server version of MAS 90); numerous upgrades and additional
modules for Best Enterprise Suite, including eSalesforce, eExecutive,
eCustomer, Enterprise Alerts, Project Accounting and Manufacturing;
and the launch of BusinessWorks Gold 2.2, the 32-bit version of
the original BusinessWorks product.
BEST WINS DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2-2-2-2
"This year's competition for the Developer of the Year award
was the strongest we have seen in the past eight years," says
Jerry Skillett, board chairman of the Software Council. "Best
Software continues to create meaningful, innovative products and
upgrades, known in the industry for high quality and ease of use.
We are pleased to see an original Software Council member company
