An Interview with Patrick Reed, HRMS Consultant

Patrick joined Net at Work in November of 2017 as an HRMS Consultant.  Patrick was a Support Analyst II at Sage from 2006 to July of 2012 and assisted consultants across the country with the roll out of the first version of Sage HRMS. For over 12 years, Patrick has helped HR and Payroll teams troubleshoot various issues as well as implementing new software strategies.  His experience includes HR and Payroll software as well as Employee Self Service configuration and implementation.

At Net at Work, Patrick assists clients with implementing new software installations, finding answers to various issues that arise, and troubleshooting difficult technical and non-technical problems. His duties include assisting with Help Desk tickets as they are received, Crystal Report writing, managing and assisting with projects, installing, implementing, and configuring software.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from ITT and Tampa Technical Universities in Tampa, Fl. Patrick lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife, where they were both born and raised. He has a love for technology, social media, and the surrounding environment.

Best Work Experience

When asked about his best work experience, Patrick told me that it was his first full implementation, for a firm in Hawaii.  Up until this project, Patrick had provided technical support to many clients, but this was his first experience building a system from the ground up.  When they finished and went live, Patrick said he felt a real sense of accomplishment.

What would surprise our clients to know about you?

Patrick collects orchids.  He told me that when he first starting work he did maintenance and often found plants left when tenants moved out.  He would take them home and try to revive them.  From there, his interest focused especially on orchids and he grows them both indoors and outdoors around his home (an advantage of living in Florida).

What are you next looking forward to checking off your ‘bucket list’?

Although he has traveled throughout the US and in Europe, he hasn’t had a chance to travel to South American.  He has an uncle in Costa Rica and is looking forward to travel there to do some snorkeling and see the rainforest.  A unique opportunity to see his orchids ‘in the wild’, we both agreed.

Patrick told me that the thing he loves most about his job is helping people.  “I love success” he told me. “There is nothing better than the thanks I receive when I can help a client in a payroll down situation.”
