Hello,

This is my story – and the reason I do what I do – helping non-profits achieve their mission through technology. After I tell you my story, I hope you will tell me yours. You see, as the account executive aligned to your account with Net at Work, I need to understand you, your organization, and how I can best help.

I’ll go first.

I graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1993. Yep, I was a professional musician. A real rock ‘n’ roll singer-songwriter to be exact. I was a “star” in NYC with my band generating interest from both record labels and groupies alike. Come on, I was 23 with long hair, a leather jacket, an earring, and a Fender Strat in my hands, why not?

All seemed great until one day I started getting sick. I don’t mean sniffles, I mean REALLY sick. Bronchitis, pneumonia, the works. I soon found out my immune system had tanked because I was in stage 4 with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The end of the line, folks. They gave me one week to live and a 9% chance of survival. But somehow I knew I would survive.

Instead of seeing this as my demise, I saw it as a message – a gift to turn my life into something with great impact on the world. So I began treatment and spent the next year and a half enduring chemotherapy and eventually a bone-marrow transplant on October 19th, 1995. After about a year of recovery I was considered cured. But what was I going to do with my life now? Hanging out in smoke-filled rock clubs and living on fast food was not the healthiest of lifestyles.

I decided to make a change, take better care of my health, and do something that would allow me to use my creativity to help non-profit organizations succeed like the hospital and the technology that saved my life.  I started a tech company with a twist – a web development company with a mission to give ten percent of our profits back to charity – especially cancer research, hospitals, education, and advocacy organizations.

Word spread pretty fast and I began working for leading organizations like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Hackensack University Medical Center, Teva Learning Center, and American Jewish Committee. I was bringing technology into these great organizations to help them work more efficiently, achieve their goals, save lives, and raise money. I was making a difference in the world just by helping these great organizations succeed.

For the last 20 plus years, this has been my story. Now, at Net at Work, my story has been taken to the next level. I now have a team of 250 experts in their fields, a multitude of top-tier technology products and services, and one of the leading companies in the U.S. to help develop many more great stories – Your story. Think of us as your outsourced CTO, helping you achieve your mission through technology, providing the best solutions that suit your needs. Because it’s not about selling you a product you don’t need. It’s about being your technology partner.

That’s my story. So what’s yours? I’m listening…
