IMPORTANT: CHANGES THAT MAY AFFECT YOUR SAGE 100

Sage recently sent you an email (see it at the bottom of this thread) where they announced two important items that may directly impact your company’s ability to work within the Sage 100 product.

For your convenience, I have highlighted the key points and next steps below.

The Impact to Sage 100
The changes announced affect those who are not upgraded to Sage’s currently supported versions, as well as those not fully patched on the current editions.

Here are instructions on how to check what version of Sage 100 you are running.

Emailing From Sage 100 Stops Working On October 1, 2022
On 10/1/2022 Microsoft is disabling basic email authentication. Google shut this off in June of 2022. Basic email authentication is currently used in many versions of Sage 100 and allows your company to be able to do the following:

  • Email Invoices to Customers – this also applies to quotes and orders
  • Email Statements to Customers
  • Email Purchase Orders to Vendors
  • Email remittance advices to Vendors and Customers
  • Email reports to your team

Sage 100 Will Go Into “READ ONLY” Mode – September 2023
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a common methodology used for servers to communicate with each other. Some editions of Sage 100 use TLS 1.0 and 1.1 which are seen as security risks by the software industry. Most published have depreciated these versions and now use TLS 1.2 or 1.3. Sage is joining the other publishers in depreciating TLS for 1.0 and 1.1 if you are not upgraded and fully patched on current editions by September of 2023.

Both these changes impact all users – even those organizations only using an instance of Sage 100 for reporting or Inquires.

Using Microsoft Exchange® with Sage 100

Effective October 1, 2022, Microsoft is making changes regarding Microsoft Exchange that will impact your ability to email documents such as Orders, Invoices and Statements in-product if you are on an unsupported version of Sage 100. If you are not using one of the supported versions of Sage 100 please reach out to your Partner or contact Sage Expert Services to discuss upgrading your software.

Sage 100 and product licensing

In the summer of 2023, Sage will be making changes to your license verification to utilize a current Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol recommended by third-party standards organizations. This measure is required as older versions of TLS do not meet current security standards and can pose a security risk. If you have a subscription business care plan and are not on a supported version of Sage 100 your software will go into read-only mode. If you are using an unsupported version of Sage 100, please reach out to your Partner please reach out to your Partner or contact Sage Expert Services at Microsoft documentation to discuss upgrading your software.
