Buy One, Get One Free – Adding Free Products to Your Sage X3 Order
Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) pricing is a useful tool to encourage more sales of a product. When a customer purchases a certain quantity of one product, they get one or more of the same or a different product at no charge (i.e., free). Free product promotions are easy to set up in your Sage X3 system.
With Sage X3 price lists, a free product can be associated to a line in the sales order. The free addition can be based on a line total, order total, or total quantity. It can be the same product, or a different product based on the configuration of a price list.
You can define the price list setup in Setup > Sales > Price Lists > Setup (GESSPC):
You can choose either ‘Same product’ or ‘Other product’ in the drop-down menu above.
Save and validate the changes.
Create a new price list record under Sales > Price List Entry (GESSPL):
In the above example, if 5 or more quantities of 01-00003 were listed on the sales order, 1 free product, 01-00003 (defined in the Free product field), would be added to the order at a $0.00 price after the first line was added. Note that a different product other than the original product could be specified in this field.
Sage X3 price lists are extremely flexible and powerful to support almost any pricing strategy that your sales team needs to implement. For more information, or for any questions regarding Sage X3, please contact us.

NetSuite SuiteAnalytics Help Businesses Stay Nimble with New Features
Like never before, agility is critical to business survival, never mind growth. In the early days of the pandemic and still today, companies must be able to move quickly, and they need systems that can support rapid change.
In a NetSuite Now On Air keynote titled, “Flexibility, Visibility & Control in Uncertain Times,” product management leaders Elham Ghassemzadeh and Joav Bally detailed several features in NetSuite 2020 Release 2 that give customers new ways to monitor the performance of their business and make necessary adjustments. When users tailor their NetSuite platform to meet their evolving needs, they usually do so with SuiteCloud, noted Ghassemzadeh, vice president of product management for SuiteCloud.
“You might be restructuring your data, updating your workflows or scripts to accommodate shifts in supplier networks, reporting requirements and logistics planning, or any other aspect of your business,” she said.
Ghassemzadeh broke down three features in NetSuite 2020 Release 2 that will help NetSuite administrators and developers meet evolving business needs:
Customization Manager: The new tool makes it easier for administrators to manage the rollout of customizations, understand their impact and set role-based access controls. When an administrator updates a custom record’s required fields, access type or other characteristics, that change can now be reflected across any new custom records that use the same template. With the customization manager, if the administrator makes a certain field mandatory in one custom record, it can make that option required on all similar forms or SuiteScripts. This simplifies and centralizes administration of mandatory field settings and access controls, ensuring consistent and secure functionality across all user interfaces and application programming interface within the product.
Performance Health Dashboard: The new performance health dashboard builds on NetSuite’s existing application performance monitoring (APM) tool. This dashboard displays the performance of records, SuiteScripts, saved searches and integrations, as well as concurrency limits, in one place, enabling admins to quickly and proactively prevent stability and performance issues.
Open Source Developer Resources: The latest release provides access to open source tools including a Node.js based command line interface (CLI) that that gives developers direct access to SuiteCloud Development Framework capabilities such as continuous deployment from their IDE of choice, and the Jest-based testing framework for unit test and quality assurance of custom SuiteScript code modules. These tools are now available from public repositories maintained on GitHub and npmjs.
“Our goal is to make change management easy by putting users in control of every stage of the software development and deployment pipeline,” Ghassemzadeh said.
SuiteAnalytics adds functionality to provide deeper insights
In the second part of the keynote, Bally, vice president of product management for SuiteAnalytics, highlighted several new SuiteAnalytics features that will continue to help leaders develop a deeper understanding of different aspects of their company, informing strategy and improving decision-making.
New features in the 2020 Release 2 include:
Separated data sets and workbooks: The latest version of SuiteAnalytics splits up data sets and workbooks so users can include multiple data sets in a single workbook. Workbooks allow customers to visualize their data, and the ability to use a number of different data sets enables more advanced and comprehensive insights. Any updates to existing datasets will also be reflected in the relevant workbooks.
Improved Formula Builder: The formula builder is both easier to use and has additional functionality in 2020 Release 2. The formula builder helps NetSuite users run calculations within the system, and it now checks for syntax errors in real time and offers more intuitive tools for editing and line numbering. In a demo, Bally showed how a company could link multiple data sets to a workbook and then create a calculation in the formula builder to measure quota attainment for each sales rep.
NetSuite Analytics Warehouse: This new offering builds on SuiteAnalytics by leveraging Oracle Analytics Cloud and Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse technologies.“By leveraging the power of Oracle Analytics Cloud and Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, NetSuite customers can slice and dice NetSuite data in multiple ways, bringing in data from third parties, as well as performing advanced scenarios like historical analysis based on data snapshots or predictive analytics,” Bally said.
Today, there are more than 6,000 SuiteAnalytics customers, who have collectively created nearly 35,000 workbooks and data sets and used 53,000 workbook templates, Bally said. These new features will only add to the valuable insights these customers glean and give them a stronger pulse of their businesses.

Adapt and Thrive with the Autonomous Supply Chain
There have been massive disruptions to supply and demand in the past several years, this year in particular, and the lack of predictability makes it very difficult for companies to operate — it disrupts the business plans, operational plans, demand plans and supply plans they rely on.
And this works both ways: some products have garnered so much demand that businesses can’t produce them quickly enough while others have become obsolete, practically overnight.
The final week of the NetSuite Now On Air virtual conference focuses on supply chain excellence and operational efficiency. Kicking off this week, Laura Maready, vertical product manager for retail, apparel, footwear & accessories and health & beauty, shared some of the new supply chain product enhancements in NetSuite that will enable businesses to be more agile, operate more efficiently and collaborate more effectively in her keynote session.
The Autonomous Supply Chain
“It’s difficult in today’s environment to keep good customers supplied, optimize both inventory and supply chains and identify alternate routes, vendors and sources of supply without a strong system that provides the insights that businesses need.” Maready said. They all need to work together seamlessly.
An autonomous supply chain that can make those decisions automatically, with little to no human intervention, empowers businesses to act intelligently and ensures they are able to react appropriately. Maready outlined three of the key components of the autonomous supply chain — unified planning, smart inventory management and efficient execution. Some of NetSuite’s new functionality ensures the right products are available at the right location, at the right time and within budget.
Unified Planning
NetSuite’s supply planning tool has been completely reengineered to support the modern product company. The addition of materials requirements planning (MRP) to the supply planning platform gives you the ability to react to events and disruptions to the supply chain in real time, unlike traditional overnight processes.
A holistic view of financial, sales, product, services and people planning lets businesses perform advanced modeling and overlay those results across different departments to understand the total impact on proposed changes across the organization.
MRP and supply planning can compare actual demand with forecasts to ensure you have the right materials in the right locations to satisfy your aggregated demand.
Advanced Order Management helps aggregate and stage shipments using just-in-time rules and algorithms and helps fulfill orders in the most efficient way using geographic location and shipping rules.
The planner workbench allows planners to focus on areas that require human intervention, implement alternative strategies, collaborate across all departments and continuously improve their plans.
Smart Inventory Management
NetSuite provides automation that improves both supply chain efficiencies and customer satisfaction at the same time. NetSuite’s Advanced Order Management uses configurable business rules to automate the final step of getting the product to the customer at the right time. For every order that comes into the system, NetSuite analyzes key information to automatically execute the most efficient fulfillment scenario.
Automatically select the most efficient fulfillment location for orders utilizing global inventory availability as well as geographic location.
Using reallocation functionality, you can re-assign inventory to fulfill priority orders first.
Based on prioritization rules, NetSuite looks at inbound shipments that haven’t been received into stock yet and allocates inventory to open orders.
Streamline Execution
With NetSuite’s mobile functionality, users can complete production tasks directly from a mobile device, ensuring more accurate data entry and decreasing the time required to make, pick, pack and ship items.
The mobile solution allows you to update work orders directly from the mobile device and walks you through the process of picking the materials required for the build, and prompts the user for confirmation at each step with a scan to ensure data accuracy and record the actual production quantity.
The multi-order picking process feature can optimize order picking by allowing users to pick based on pre-defined waves to consolidate shipments. The mobile device item quantities are updated in real time as users scan bins while they pick.
With the Quality Management SuiteApp, users can now perform inspections prior to shipment to ensure that the goods going out meet quality guidelines.
What’s Next for NetSuite?
In the future, NetSuite’s allocation and fulfillment engine will be even more intelligent.
Utilizing machine learning, the system will identify strategies to optimize inventory allocation based on values like revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction and tactical time frames such as quarter or year end. This will reduce the problem of having too much inventory in some areas and too little supply in others.
The autonomous supply chain works across all functions of your supply chain, from planning to execution, to help you adapt to changing business environments. Using NetSuite’s intelligence and automation, “you’re better prepared to improve your processes and product flows, ensuring you deliver the right product, at the right time, at the right cost” Maready said.
