Processing 2010 1099’s in MAS 500

By: | Category:

January 31st is not far off and we all know what that means – it is almost time to process 1099’s. Sage MAS 500 supports paper and electronic filing and the following forms: 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, and 1099-MISC.

Before processing 1099’s you must apply the 1099 update provided by Sage for the current year. Please refer to the files below for required pre-requisites before installing the 1099 update for your current version of MAS 500 and the update itself:

» Release notes (MAS500730_1099Update2010.pdf)
» Server update (730_2010_1099_UpdateS.exe)
» Client Update (730_2010_1099_UpdateC.exe)

If you would like to take advantage of electronic filing you will need to apply to file electronically with the IRS. Use Form 4419 provided by the IRS. Click below to access the application for filing returns electronically: Electronic Filing Application

Once the application has completed you will receive a Transmitter Control Code (TCC). This code will be used when submitting your 1099’s electronically.

If this will be your first time processing 1099’s in MAS 500 or if you need to refresh your skills on common 1099 procedures for entering and editing 1099 data, creating 1099 beginning balances and submitting forms, do not hesitate to contact our Helpdesk at 1-888-494-9479 or helpdesk@netatwork.com and any of our MAS 500 consultants will be happy to assist you.
